Having been a thriving hub for amateur sport since our pavilion on Whiteshill common was built in 1968, we’re at a bit of a crossroads.
We’re home to Hambrook Cricket Club, Hambrook & Brimsham Utd FC, and 5 skittles teams. Our club has hosted birthday parties for all ages, school discos, race nights, wakes, even a few weddings and engagement parties! We’re not-for-profit, owned by members for members, operated by volunteers. Everything goes back into providing a space for grassroots sport and social activities in Hambrook and surrounding villages.
But, as we know, times are hard. Our heating system needs upgrading. Our facilities need a facelift. Our winter energy bills are £800 – £1200 a month. We’re applying for funding, but nothings guaranteed. We’re rolling our sleeves up and doing what we can.
I've been working hard on establishing two new evening fitness classes at the club during evenings. Pilates with Faye launches next week – Monday 2nd February, with Faye Spours. Faye sometimes covers for Abi on our Wednesday Pilates class; she has over 30 years experience and is highly trained. So, whether you're a Flexible Fiona or an Achey Andre, you're in excellent hands. And in March, we're launching a Tuesday evening Yoga class... more on that coming soon!
You'll be pleased to hear we have an exciting programme of fundraising socials coming up. We’ve got a real mix of activities, from quiz and family nights, to crafty workshops, and wine and cheese tasting. There should be something for everyone.
Other ways you can support Hambrook Sports Club
Join us: for £10 you can support grassroots sport on your doorstep. Sign up here or pop into the club on Monday, Wednesday or Thursday from 7:30 pm when we’re open for skittles, Pilates and cribbage to pay over the bar.
Volunteer with us we always need extra help on our friendly bar. Practical trade skills are like gold dust. Mowing and tending the Common are essential for play. Help with marketing and events could be a game changer for sharing the word about the club.
Become a club sponsor we’re looking for business sponsors who will receive a marketing package in exchange for financial support.
Book your event with us our event room holds 80 people for parties. It’s great for workshops or fitness classes (like our weekly Pilates), at our instructor rate of £20 for 1.5 hours. Members can book the whole club for up to 100 people with the skittles alley, all for £60, plus £25 damage deposit, for 6 hours. Drinks prices are extremely good value.
Thank you for reading and supporting your community. I hope to see you soon!
