Join Our New Pilates Class with Faye Spours


Sore shoulders? Bad back? Our bodies were made to move, but the majority of us don't manage much of that when we're sitting at desks all day. The good news is that we've launched a new Pilates class with local instructor Faye Spours at 7:15 pm on Monday evenings at Hambrook Sports Club.


What is Pilates?


Pilates is truly excellent for balance, posture, flexibility, and strength. It was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th century. The main difference between Pilates and yoga is that Pilates focuses on muscle toning, body control, and core strength. If you've had a sports or back injury, your doctor or physio may suggest Pilates as part of your recovery programme.


Benefits for Older Adults


As well as offering benefits for those of us with desk jobs, and ensuring our players stay fighting fit, Pilates is also extremely beneficial for helping older adults stay strong and flexible. This practice can reduce their risk of falls and help them retain their independence. It's a gentle way to maintain fitness and improve overall well-being.


Professional Standards in the UK


In the UK, Pilates instructors follow professional codes of conduct. They focus on client safety, ethics (no diagnosing, observing confidentiality), and continuous professional development. Faye has been teaching classes for over 30 years, working with businesses such as Nuffield and UWE. Her extensive experience ensures that you will receive high-quality instruction tailored to your needs.


How to Book Your Class


Faye is taking bookings for her classes over on our events page. You can secure a discount for booking in blocks of four classes. Class sizes are limited, so please do secure your space and start feeling more flexible!
